KING ARTHURS COURT

Another popular midweek venue was King Arthurs Court based in Charing near Ashford in Kent. The music was delivered by a young fresh faced upcoming DJ named Pete Tong! Pete was probably the most successful DJ to emerge from the Jazz Funk and Soul Scene and as I am sure you all know became a household name working on Radio One. His Name has also been adopted into Cockney Rhyming Slang and for the movie - "Its all gone a bit Pete Tong" (Wrong)

ATLANTIS

Situated on the coast of Margate was a well known Jazz Funk and Soul Club - The Atlantis. Although I only ventured there a couple of times myself it played some excellent music and is well worth a mention if only for its Dancers. for some reason Atlantis was home to some excellent dancers who were seen at various clubs around kent names worthy of note are Tony Maxwell, Stan "The Man" and Dennis Mc Carthty.

The Clubs that I have highlighted are just afew that I frequented and that played a big part of the Jazz funk and Soul scene However the list is endless and there are many more that I either attended or was aware of playing a part of the scene and it is only fitting that I mention some of those clubs If you feel I have neglected to mention any of importance or if you feel you would like to mail me a small write up on a particular club please feel free to do so.
